The milk bathing scene was to demonstrate her uncaring nature. The people in the streets were running to get any of the milk they could for nourishment sake. After watching the people grovel she goes to a TUB full of the milk and baths in it... Sort of equivalent to rolling around on a bed covered in hundred dollar bills while outside your window people are fighting over a fist full of quarters.

Prometheus 174 million with Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
Not bad for four days, but still more than Snow White and the Huntsman.

183M worldwide....is that a falure or success....I kinda liked it, there were flaws, and I do believe it was PG-13 (?) I don't remember 'soft porn' in the film, are you talking abut the Queen's back?

Already, Prometheus has surpassed Snow White & the Huntsman.
In one day, 67 million worldwide, while, SN & Htsmn, still sits
on 117 million for seven days.

Of course, a week will tell what happens and everyone will know
how sad Snow White dribbled with soft porn exposure, with
mad mother yelling abuse kills the movie.

I wouldn't take my daughter to see a naked, screaming tyrant
pretending to be nice. It would be too scary.

Snow White conjures 117,000 million for six days (worldwide)
77,000 million in the U.S. 44,000 million foreign.

But Prometheus will be knocking out plenty of players, including
Snow White & the Huntsman.

It took 171 million to produce Snow White & the Huntsman.

I believe it will be having trouble after Prometheus gets
in track.

BROTHERS GRIMM -- BEWARE...

Having seen the trailers of Snow White and the Huntsman.
I have been reading a lot of downfall on this film.
It has no weight and even with Charlize Theron, the film
appears to lose the battle to critics and movie goers.

At our city, the newspaper went into detail for three pages
of the SN and Huntsman. It was an extremely good critique.
But, the information pointed to the bad penmanship for the story.
Three writers held responsible for allowing the movie to turn sour.
And the reviewer had explicit details to when, where, who, what, why.

It was a bad chance that Snow White and the Huntsman is not
going to do good.

Would this be an indication to this Brothers Grimm story we have here?

Can these writers pull off the great escape into fantasy and bring AS
into the heavens spotlight?

Are we going into the right direction?

Does AS know why this screenplay might fail?

Are writer(s) sure that they know what they are getting into?

We have only one idea...

Mine and Justin...

But, I will share some insight.

Try to understand the Captain of this vessel, Rob, approached this
story with a different angle. If should we detour and deviate from this
storyline, then we will be at the same cliff Snow White and the Huntsman
face. The downfall of a literary story.

Let's face the truth, Rob had the idea to change the tone of the story,
he was right. Back then, Brothers Grimm wrote black, dark stories,
since that era needed some guidance. Now, this is the present and
we are enlightened viewers. We must give in to the audiences
preferences and follow Rob's path. We must give into the
flow of that thought. Follow the audience's attention and the
beautiful ship that Captain Rob built will take AS to future
promises.

That goes with all studios. As an example, let's say that you want to be a writer for your favorite TV show, so you send a spec script on that show. Well, they'll more than likely pass on it in favor for someone who wrote a script for another show. Another example is the creator of AMC's "Mad Men" who ended up working for "Sopranos" based on the spec pilot he wrote.. the spec that one day became "Mad Men."

It surprises me that they would like to read another screenplay, other
than the contest assignment.

But, I still have much research to check into.

Unless I had misread, they will ask for a sample screenplay for an animated motion picture and if they like what they see and you get commissioned to write the screenplay for Twelve Princesses--it is at that time you will have eight weeks to produce a first draft of the script. This means that if they pick you, you will need a sample script not related to this project. Again, that is unless I misread which could have been possible.

Well, not too early to start on the screenplay.
Got to get my resources started.

I would think that since we put the whole 8 page assignment in doc. docx. txt. or rft./ pdf.
wouldn't it change the format in either form? So why worry about if the pages are over 5 pages?

I love it.
I found my collaborator, Justin. A sixteen year old high school male who's incredible knowledge
on medieval characters are fascinating.
So. We have a finished product and will submit.
We didn't stay too close to the first and second screenplay, simply because it didn't give
us enough foundation to build character persona. We did explore many other ideas,
like adding more settings, more characters, and conflict. Oh so much conflict, but
guess what?!
We had them singing throughout the whole story!!!
Yes, you heard it right here! More singing and dancing, because, after all,
they are fairies.
Oh by the way, The treatment sounds just like a fable story. I believe that's the correct way.

I've always been a fan of the Grimm short story... and I love most Disney movies... so seeing this project was like a dream come true.

I read the second draft of the script and thought it was GREAT... BUT I could see places I'd personally want to tweak it... then I read the notes on what they'd like changed in a new version and most of their changes were the stuff I wanted to change anyway.

THEN I read the 1st draft... and was floored! There was SO much great stuff in the 1st draft that didn't make it to the second draft because of the types of changes made.

SO... I am taking bits and pieces of each of the drafts, meshing them together, changing things I think will flesh the story out more without adding unnecessary length, as well as changing a few things to my whim (including completely altering an existing character). I'm almost done with the rough draft of my treatment, which will then need to be paired down as it's sadly longer than it should be (I tried detailing the chances in the treatment too much when I should use the other documents they want for some of that).

Hey Daniel,

Good insight into your own process. I love musicals so I find this assignment fun. It's the same with spec'ing a tv show: you want to pick a show that you love, otherwise, why write it?

It sounds like you're challenging yourself to work within the paradigm of Rob's script, so that's good. Remember, it's a fairytale; and fairies love to sing and dance! With that in mind....

Be the fairy, Daniel. You can do it.

Reading both the screenplay and the story with Grimm's background makes this
more easier to manipulate into a better screenplay.
But, I find the singing is detrimental to the script, because it takes away
from the characters, but! Their songs are good, so I will implement the
screenplay without losing any scenes, but add only...
