The current script has 12 princesses. How committed to this number are you? Twelve characters is a lot to put on screen. Snow White had 7 dwarves. Santa had 9 reindeer. Would Amazon consider 6 princesses for this story?

Thank you for this exciting opportunity. Cheers!

Hunger Games had 12 female Tributes and 12 male Tributes.

Yeah but Hunger Games is arguably an example of good storytelling...

This is based on the great Grimm fairy tail "The 12 Dancing Princesses"... I personally feel like it's needed to stick to 12. Yes, I understand that a bunch of stuff has changed from the Grimm fairy tail to this (though, if you haven't read Rob's 1st draft, you should, as it was VERY similar to the source material), but I think some aspects should stay the same.

It depends on the narrative intent. If the 11 other princesses are mainly kept as background, then I suppose a dozen can work. Although again, it's a lot to "show" on screen at once.

If the intention is to elucidate some of the characters... bring out their individual character traits... then I'm wondering if a smaller number of princesses isn't the better call.

Any opinion from the Story Department? Much thanks!

I think we're stuck with all twelve of them. from the Story Department's feedback thread

"All we ask is that your movie has a budding young romance at its center, a hero’s journey, and 12 princesses."

You might get a better idea on how to include all 12 in your story if you actually read the original fairy tale. Or, if you like, look for it on youtube. There was a cartoon series out there a while back that did a respectable job of it.

The cartoon was Grimm's fairy tale classics and they only had 3 princesses in that version.
