Ping Pong Playa

A kid dreams of playing professional basketball in order to escape his dead-end job, living in the suburbs, his bossy older brother and running his Mom's ping pong classes.

Robert D says:
All of those films are good too. I forgot Bend it like Beckham.
Main1347652975._sx45_sy45_
Victory (1981)

Not strictly a sports movie but it's centred around a soccer game... and it has Pelé.

Anything with Pelé and soccer can't help but be a sports movie ;)

The movie might not be as enduring as Rocky
but the actual game they play pays for it's self... and of course a little Pelé magic to top it off.

Don't forget "Chariots of Fire". Isn't it the only one to win a Best Picture Oscar?
Main1358956029._sx45_sy45_
Best Picture: "Rocky", "Million Dollar Baby" and to a certain extent I suppose "Gladiator"
