My draft of Franklin casts him as something of a straight man so I don't think he needs to be a comedian. Additionally, the buttkicking aspect would be better if he's played by an actor with a tough guy persona. I think De Niro would great. Especially for the opening scene.

Bruce Willis would be good. He's got the open a can of whoop-ass side along with the comedic side to him. On top of that, it wouldn't be too hard to turn him into Franklin. I can see it.
