Could someone please explain what I've seen referred to at AS as 'bottom (or top) of the pile'? Reason for what may seem a stupid question is my 3-day-old project with only 2 downloads is currently appearing in order of 'popularity' on page 22 of 78 in action/adventure, page 15 of 72 in Comedy when searching 'All scripts'. How is this 'popularity' ranking formatted? What is the significance – if any? Thanks.
I'm relatively new myself, and from what I've gathered it seems "popularity" serves no purpose other than to service the writer's ego.
Is it based on downloads, ratings, page views? I have no idea.
there's an option for ranking by "date created" and by "title". it's really just for search purposes. popularity is technically subjective b/c scripts that have been here for a year or many months will most likely have many more downloads than 3 day old scripts.
Thanks Lisa! Just a curious new member.
So popularity is simply a download metric?
I believe time is factored in too - a script with 10 downloads this week will probably rank higher than one with 100 downloads four months ago.
Projects with trailers and movies also get a bump from that too.
I know the popularity rankings have nothing to do with anything...but my series sliding from the 2nd page to the 4th today still hurts :(
It can't just be downloads, it has to be page views as well, since my projects have very few downloads, yet still continue to stay on the first page...
I think there must be some weighting for stuff AS likes too...
