Brian Singer is directing
Release some time in 2013
Jack climbs the bean stalk, finds a race of giants who used to live on earth and want to reclaim it.
The giants kidnap a Princess.
I'm thinking this is the reason "12 Princesses" is dead at WB
How do you know 12 Princesses is dead at WB?
Pretty sure the movie finished filming, tested terribly and got shifted around. Expect Direct to DVD release. But yea, bit confused as to how you are correlating the two.
@ David - Are you talking about 12 P? If so, why do you think that? AS hasn't even announced who won the proposal contest for 12P. I think it's safe to assume there's no new script, let alone a finished test movie.
Um...would it be cool if we just started a discussion entitled "nonsense and nonsequiturs" where lads and lassies just make wild and inane comments, predictions and connections based on Variety headlines, screenwriting blogs, and Google searches? I'll start: The Superman: Man Of Steel reboot has already disappointed at the box office due to producers' decision to replace Russel Crowe's Jor-El with a Cary Grant hologram, al la Tupac.
When I said dead...
on second thought, it's dead until "Jack the Giant Killer" comes out and WB gets audience feedback.
If it's a bomb on the scale of "John Carter," who is going to make a movie that largely duplicates the main story points?
"Movies based on Grimm's Fairy Tales" is this year's experiment, because the ability to create CG story worlds is better than it was a decade ago...
The story lines are very similar. Jack climbs up the beanstalk, the Princesses go through a trap door into the basement, and they both find a world populated by giants.
Good point - so possibly everyone who stuck to the original 12 Princesses is probably out.
Probably out? No.
The whimsical comic tone is a good approach.
It could easily be a teenage comedy, with Yannick defeating the villains by dumb luck.
There are other approaches. I think AS will give all of them a fair evaluation. And then choose the one they started with.
