Glen, seriously you have issues to call someone an asshole...Come on, this is a forum, no reason to be so ugly and negative. What, next you'll want to go fisty cuffs with the guy...So he doesn't want to post his picture...Maybe he's got a zit on his nose...I hide my face with my main man, JOJO...Not covering up a zit...He's just better looking. Peace my brother...It's all good. Good luck

Glen check out a little old film "Heavenly Creatures" and maybe you'll 'see' just how good Mr Jackson is - it launched Kate Winslet's career...

Or even "Braindead", Mr Jackson is an excellent and acomplished director who knows you might even become yourself one day.

Keep shooting film and you may get there eventually...

Respectfully, Jim.

I've never met anyone in my life that has an opinion about someone they have never met, and compare them to one of their contemporaries, that knows what they are talking about. Jackson, Cameron, Ridley Scott and the list continues and is growing, or these really, incompetent directors, moving to the future of filmmaking. Once you work with a RED, you'll change your perception of filmmaking...Of course, you'd probably have to get a job that will allow you to afford to rent one, let alone purchase one, other than make lame criticisms of a wonderful director. Very few people, have, or had, at the time, the vision or ability to produce LOR. Thank God, Jackson did. BTW, Scorese now uses RED. Why don't you ask him yourself. The same ignorance perpetuated HD by scared and non innovative directors. Michael Mann shot 85% of Collateral on HD...Since RED has been introduced, Canon & Arri have released their attempts at shooting 5K...They can't even compare to RED...Come into the 21st Century...Try being positive...It feels a hell of a lot better than being negative. I love my RED and will use nothing else. Unlike any other camera, it is totally upgradable. Good luck.

I have been a huge fan of Scorsese since before some of the folks here were born, but I don't see how you can know Jackson's LOR films. For years people have tried to bring LOR to the screen with limited, if any, success. And Jackson made the series a classic. The battle scenes alone are worth seeing the film for.

Some eras have produced bunches of great composers, others, authors, I have been fortunate to live through a time of great directors.

And Glen, just how many major motion pictures have you made? Oh, I see! You are a CRITIC, not really MAKING pictures. . .

Glen, Martin Scorsese has said that 3-D is the wave of the future and that he only wants to shoot 3-D. Guess what the main 3-D platform that Hollywood uses now? Oh, yeah, that's right, it's RED.

Sorry, if RED isn't good enough for you, Glen. Only James Cameron, Martin Scorsese, Peter Jackson and David Fincher use RED, and you know they're all shite directors.

The next "big thing" is 48fps. 48fps and 3-D together will most certainly be the wave of the future. I think FX pioneer Douglas Trumball had a 48p system way back in the 80's, but the studios balked at the minimal price increase for shooting 48fps, despite the massive increase in picture quality. Now that can all be done in the digital realm at no additional cost (Well, at least in terms of projection)

Glen, without RED pushing the envelope as quickly and cheaply as they did, we wouldn't have relatively inexpensive digital cameras we're getting now (C300 among many others).

You'd still be looking to rent a Sony Digital Camera, or buy one for a million dollars. Competition is wonderful.

It doesn't sound like you even bothered to look at the clip.
Jackson was discussing methods of capturing 3D, handling the proscenium effect, interocular distance, etc- things that apply to many technologies.

Given Scorsese's use of 3D in Hugo, I'd expect he & Peter have even talked technique.

As far as your seeing RED all the time, well, you're lucky we aren't still using Technicolor...

Glen, I think you're being way too harsh. It sounds almost like you have something personal against the Reds. You remind me of Neil Young 25 years ago when he was warning everybody about the evils of compact disks. Thomas Edison when Westinghouse and Tesla were promoting alternating current. "Look out! People are going to die!"

We all know the Reds aren't perfect. Well, what's the alternative? Now we've got the Canon C300. Hooray. Leap frogging over JJ and the Reds. But would we even have the C300 today if it weren't for the Reds? I think people that push the envelope deserve more credit than you're giving them.
