I'm having a dillemma on my script and I want to hear you opinions.
For a kids series is better to have a world that is set on reality, like having real countries (like France) and real places (like Alps, Amazonia and stuff). Or having a world that is based on the reality, but with different names like Nalps and Arazonia?
The thing is if you use real places, people will recognize and connect easier to the show. But you will have to stick to reality, what sometimes hold back the unreal stuff, like magic, and others. Also, if you create a new world, you have last sentence backwards (less conectivity but more space to unreal stuff)
So what you guys think about it?

If the purpose of your show is to introduce children to other cultures, I would stick with real places. That doesn't mean you can't include magical elements, especially if they're based around the culture.

At the beggining I didn't want to introduce children to other cultures, but now I'm thinking about it and it looks like a smart choice. I can keep all the fun, action and still teach something every episode about the world.
I'll think better about it.
Thanks for the answer.

Even if you use real places I see no reason why you can't have some unreal elements like magic.

That's true either. My friend told me that If I use real places I have to stick with reality, because the magic and unreal stuff would sound pushed unnecessary on the show.

I like the idea of using real places. It is always great when you can educate and entertain at the same time. I also love your enthusiasm for France. Why not using real places with a magical twist. In the end, you're the writer. You can do whatever you want.
