Well done to the semi-finalists and good luck for the next round.
uffa
best of luck ya'll
:-(
Congratulations and best of luck
There's only 14 semifinalists on the list.
Hope springs eternal.... Who'd they leave off?
Lisa - any of the semi-fi's on your "watch list"?
Looks like A.D. is the only woman on the list? (T.N. appears to be an alien...)
@ Jim - no, Chad's already on the list. Did anyone cross check against the people with the bronze badges? Or did they only go with 14 for real?
Sorry
I thought you meant which one are we watching to see gets to the finals.
Darn! Didn't make the cut. I knew i should have had Franklin give himself a circumcision.
Anyway, good luck to the semifinalists!
I counted all those with bronze medals next to their scripts as well as the list of semifinalists.
Only fourteen.
Maybe AS counted Ungate's win and stopped. (his first win)
@ Jim - I was asking whether any of the semi-fi's were scripts Lisa found offensive.
I just got a big new project and then I start a new job March 1, plus I'm revising a new script of my own, so I'm probably not going to get around to reading any of them...
Congrats on the new job Lauri
I'm having trouble figuring out how amazon picked the semi finalists. They picked two, Eugene and Jon who used fake/friend reviews to get noticed. Another, http://studios.amazon.com/scripts/13628, I read through and is very similar to the original, but strips it of the humor it had and adds in things that aren't funny at all, such as Hessians repeatedly saying bosom in an unfunny way.
There were a lot of things I wanted to change with mine, and I realize it's not that incredibly funny. But to lose to some of these, such as the one I linked too, is just insulting.
I didn't look at every semifinalist, but the only thing I could find that was a somewhat good addition was Ervin's 'bookend scenes.' I thought that approach probably wouldn't be what they wanted though, because it takes the story in a whole different direction.
Very interesting list. A couple I'm shocked that were left off. But the winners of any contest could be vastly different from one set of judges to the next, especially in a comedy contest. Every funny joke ever uttered was unfunny to someone.
Still, pretty exciting!
Best of luck to all the Semi-finalists, and really, good job to all those that entered. People put a lot of hard work into their efforts and should be commended.
Me? I live in San Francisco, very expensive, so maybe that $500 will buy me, like, 6 cups of coffee. ;)
@ John, well, if they were looking for "not funny," why didn't they pick mine? I can do "not funny" better than anyone here!
;)
Any of the semifinalists actually fix the myriad of problems with the script? I'm curious to see if anyone who took the the time to at least attempt to fix the problems in the script (as laid out by the Amazon Studios notes).
@ Neel -- I fixed the problems but didn't make the semis.
Did any of the semis fix the funny?
That is odd that there's only 14 semi-finalists. Hhmm...maybe one more is to come!
Very strange indeed.
