Thought some of you might want to know that Amazon is selling the Cannon T3i with a 55 mil lens for $599. I can't find a T2i for that cheap.

I’ve been doing a lot of research on the Canon Vixia HF S100 to film The Repair. However, I recently discovered the beauty of the t2i. I’ll do my own research soon, but are you familiar with the t3i? Is is just as good as the t2i? I’m buying one or the other in a few weeks, I just want the best that won’t cost me a ton because the next step is buying macbook for editing.

Travis,
After some research, I can tell you they are exactly the same except for the T3i has the flip out and swivel screen. Which is great for when you want to take a low angle shot and not have to get down on the ground to frame it.

Calvin, that's a great price, now I'm torn because I had my heart set on the 60D at $1,200. But it did come with a 18-135mm lens. But man, that's twice the T3i price. The 60D is a big step up though. Hmmm...

I think I'll go with the Vixia, I've been in love with that camera for a while. Thanks for the tip on the t3i. Congratulations to you, Robert.

Lindsay,

Are there advantages of using a GH1 over other camera's such as the T3i? They are both DSLR? Does the GH1 use a cropped sensor?

Thanks,

Bert

Lindsay,

I read about the G13 and it seems there could be some issues with hanging, and codec compatibility. Although most reviews are very positive about the quality obtained with the hacked G1. I'm a little hazy on how the Mb rates affect the quality and if they drastically affect file size and workability of the data in most editing suites.

I did find the feature of continuous focus a potentially valuable feature over the Canon's standard AF for shooting video. I was considering the Canon 60D but the G1 looks nice too. I'm not sure how easy it would be to find an older G1 that can be hacked -- are they still around for a good price?

I would hate to be shooting an important scene and have the G1 hang, is that common?

Any additional pro/con info you can supply would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Bert
