Ok, so I am starting to get tired of all of these bogus ratings!

This one project has 17 different screen names rating it, but not rating any other project. So it got me thinking... I should say something about it.

The following are screen names that have only rated "The Afterlife Chronicles":

Patrick - SN Created on 6/6/12
Daniel - SN Created on 6/7/12
Jenia - SN Created on 6/7/12
Elina - SN Created on 6/6/12
Wilson - SN Created on 6/3/12
Tim C - SN Created on 6/3/12
BV - SN Created on 6/1/12
Lisa Swim - SN Created on 5/31/12
Charles H - SN Created on 5/31/12
Charles M - SN Created on 5/29/12
Charlie - SN Created on 5/26/12
Elijah - SN Created on 5/26/12
Johnny - SN Created on 5/27/12
Martin - SN Created on 5/26/12
Royce - SN Created on 5/26/12
David - SN Created on 5/30/12
April Smith - SN Created on 5/27/12

Now, what's even more entertaining is that the following people gave the following rating pattern (5 star, 5 star, 4 star, 3 star):

Patrick, Daniel, Jenia - All SN's created 6/6/12 to 6/7/12

The following people used a rating pattern of (4 star, 5 star):

Johnny, Martin, Royce, David B - All SN's created 5/26/12 to 5/30/12

And the following people just gave 5 stars and did not comment or just praised the show in a short, precise manner that makes the writer look good:

Wilson B, Tim C, BV, Lisa Swim, Charles H, Charles M, Charlie, Elijah, April...

Can we please not pretend like this is someone other than the author? And that people who actually have decent scripts that should be popular are getting pushed out by people who cheat the system?

Thanks

Laura

I did not rate it for that exact reason.

What do the bozos think, their writing will be noticed faster with AS?
They might be, but their writing will not get any better when an overworked AS reader hits the script.
The only thing left will be a bitter taste of trying too much but pushing oneself into other people's mouth.

Some self promotion is understandable and even expected. I would not have read the script if there hadn't been an evil claw in the image and the script was not high up on the list, but - damn. This good he ain't.

And furthermore it's not like the obvious flaws have not been pointed out to them in the few unbiased reviews.

Happy burning Tyler Shields and Dennis Paulsen.

I think it is a shame if this is happening. From my perspective, whenever someone has had something nice to mail to me or rate on the script or idea that I have written, I have had a little surge of excitement. I mean, if my story doesn't go anywhere beyond putting the script up, etc. I would be very happy that at least a couple of people liked it. However, if I had put up lots of fake praise for myself, it would feel quite empty to me, no matter how popular it made my script look.

A real shame. In a perfect world, we would all be judged on our own merits and not how we wanted to be seen.

B V says:
Well, i'm one of the people that gave the good rating, so let me explain myself:

1) No, i'm definitely not the author of this script, though I wish I were
2) I have been to Amazon Studios only few times over the 6 months, which - in part - explains why there are no more ratings from me (though i have voted in the quick face-off polls on the front page)
3) i have briefly scanned the projects that were up -- only the shows because that is my interest -- and only looked at the few (~4) that interested me
4) of the few that interested me, there were two that i liked enough to actually read the pilot script
5) I didn't like one of them, but loved this one, so I read the other docs.
5) i liked the writing and the progression of the story, so i gave it high rating
6) i never give low ratings to shows and authors simply because i don't believe in trashing people's efforts. That's what the publishers are for ;-). If i had time, i would at most write few recommendations, but if that meant i would have to give aspiring writer less stars and make them feel crappy, i just wouldn't do it. I prefer the positive reinforcement -- that's just my personal philosophy.

At the end of the day, i don't watch too much of TV, but i felt that this would be a show for which i'd spare an hour a week, so i gave it 5 stars. This is the longest post I have written on the web in a while, but I felt I had to stand up for this writer. I don’t know about the other reviews, but the one from me is real.
BV
P.S. – I only use acronym of my name because I don’t like to have my name plastered around the web, call me paranoid ;-).
