Just wondering...
If a script is private, what does it mean if it has a download? I thought the staff at AS has an inside process where their views/downloads won't be noticed? If this is the case, then the only option must be they have a password protected network for their industry affiliates?
I am not sure what you mean. If a script is privte, it cannot be seen by the public. Do you have a private script? Maybe the download is a representation of what you (the owner) has downloaded.
Or it could be that the AS people don't need to do a back end access thing because it is not needed due to no more contests. They just go to the project page now.
A Participant says:
I have a private script with 1 download. And I haven't downloaded anything.
A Participant says:
Steph can you answer this?
A Participant says:
Also Joe my other private scripts has 0 downloads.
A Participant says:
That should be other private script...not plural
My guess:
They may have outsourced some of the coverage. The outside readers would have the elevated access to see private scripts via the website, but would not be on AS' private WAN where they could grab screenplays via an alternate method.
"Steph can you answer this?"
ha! don't hold your breath.
A Participant says:
I knew it Lisa! I told myself Lisa would say something about my question.
I cannot even see that you have private scripts uploaded. So, the download must either be by you or, as Mitchell states, someone with elevated access on AS side that can see them.
From what I understood about the 'old' process, the reason for accessing the script through a back end process was to keep anonymity of the writer from the reader. They were trying not to let the author of the script influence the reader. So now that there is no need for this, I presume that they no longer access the scripts through the back end.
It must be AS staff because mine had 1 for a while and then went to 2 downloads despite it being private. At least you know they've given some part of it a read ...
@Joseph,
If you mean "War of Blood", you've got a problem. I can see it. :-)
Never mind. I saw Eugene's draft, which had 2 downloads & assumed that was the private script.
Mitchell,
My response was meant for Maurice's private scripts.
lol nevermind Mitchell, I thought you were talking to me.
@Mitchell it's not the War of Blood one, you can't see the Private ones ;)
@Mitchell I've just realised that your second comment was also to me... I have no idea what that Mitchell one is, I clicked on it before it was removed and it was a Benjamin Franklin script. Why he put it as a revision of mine I have no idea lol
I assumed private scripts meant people can read, but only the writer can make changes to said script.
Sean,
No, Private scripts mean you submit privately to AS and AS's eyes only can read them for the 45 day option. Once the 45 days is up the project becomes public and the owner is aloud to remove from AS or resubmit a revised version.
A good question to this is, if you submit a revised draft of a previously private project does it become private again?
@Joe,
Does AS WANT a revised draft of a script they haven't put on the Consider or In Development list?
