About Test Movies

Test movies are inexpensive, full-length movies that tell the whole story of a script in a compelling way. They can be live-action or animated, drawn or computer-generated. The special effects may not be all that special, but the acting and sound should be.

The key, no matter what techniques are used, is that test movies help people imagine what a story would be like as a finished film.

New: Build Your Story
With Amazon Storybuilder

Amazon Storybuilder is a free and easy-to-use writing tool from Amazon Studios. Amazon Storybuilder uses “notecards” to represent a single beat or event in a story. Storybuilder notecards can include both text and images. You can string individual cards together into a sequence on a virtual “corkboard” to convey a narrative and tell your story.

Unlike physical notecards, it is easy to share Storybuilder projects and take them wherever you go: on your laptop, phone, tablet or Kindle.

Visualize Your Movie Script
With Amazon Storyteller

Can't draw? No problem. With Amazon Storyteller, anyone can turn a screenplay into a storyboard.

This new (and free) tool "reads" a script and selects characters, backgrounds, and shots. Then you turn it into the perfect panel, create more panels, and share your storyboard with the world.

Music and Effects Libraries

Amazon Studios provides thousands of movie score, soundtrack music and sound effect tracks for registered filmmakers to use in video content at no charge.
