Tried to accentuate the evilness of Mort's mother, Mort's unfortunate accident and the negotiable devil along with the celebrity hosts.

    Creative Notes:
The premise is dark, but trust this is a comedy. What violence there is is cartoonish enough, and the personalities exaggerated enough, that this show is funny without getting morbid or disturbing, that is, unless being morbid or disturbing can help a joke. Much like Archer, death and dying are treated flippantly, and as merely secondary to the characters' neuroses and petty conflicts.
    Concept:
Mort Grimley, new to the Underworld after accidentally taking his own life, is offered a deal; get Hell's numbers up and maybe get a transfer out (and up), or face eternity in fire and brimstone alongside the cruel mother he tried to escape.
  • Pilot Script 1 - Pilot: The Suicide Mission
    05/07/12
    Creative Notes:
Some people seem to be missing that this is supposed to be animated. I don't have any test art, because I'm not an animator, but this is a cartoon. I hope that ameliorates the darkness. Like the pilot, I want future episodes to have a similar split of the time between Mort dealing with his victims and Belphegor and other characters in Hell, with Mort's mission taking a slightly superior share.
    Logline:
When his domineering mom finally dies, Mort, overwhelmed by freedom, commits suicide. Aspiring demon manager Belphegor decides to use Mort in a scheme to help Hell bring in much-needed clients. Mort must get a phony self-help guru to kill himself, or face his mom in Hell.
