Seventeen year old Kyle is determined to make it as a professional skater on the "Z" Skateboard team, until he discovers that if he joins the team, he will become, Undead.
Synopsis:Seventeen year old Kyle lives with his single mom in secluded Solenum Beach, CA. He and his best buddy Ethan dream of nothing but becoming professional skateboarders. When the "Z" Skateboard team moves into town, Kyle and Ethan seem to have it made. But,
Kyle's mother Leslie sees skateboarding as more of a hobby then a profession and works hard to make sure that Kyle focuses on his education. Leslie meets Neal, the skate team owner, and they begin to date. Kyle's friend Ethan has a collision with a Z team member and is asked to join the team. At Ethan's team orientation we learn, all of the Z team members are Zombies, held in check by a formula Neal has developed. As long as they drink the drink, they will not turn "full Zombie." His real goal is to perfect the formula to the point that it becomes a cure.
Leslie questions Neal about the team and he is vague, telling her that they are not accepting new members. Cole, the leader of the team, is jealous of Neal trying to have relationships outside the team. Neal is a strong father figure for Cole. As the Neal/Leslie relationship progresses Leslie sees that Neal has done well in the skateboarding business and relents. She allows Kyle to try to make the team. When Neal learns that Kyle is trying out, he panics. Of course he has not been able to tell Leslie the truth about his Zombie team.
Team leader Cole decides to “help Kyle out” by getting him on the team. Of course this also involved infecting Kyle so that he becomes a Zombie. Kyle is infected and told to drink his Z drink every day. But something is different about Kyle – he is not turning, either with or without the drink.
Neal has Kyle complete a physical for the team and draws some of Kyle’s blood. Know-it-all Kyle gets the wrong idea about the Z drink, thinking it is turning the team into Zombies. Kyle destroys all the Z drink.
Turns out Kyle has some natural immunity to the Zombie virus and Neal uses Kyle’s DNA in a new formula. Neal gives the formula to Kyle and Ethan and they are cured.
But with the rest of the drink destroyed, the team has turned full Zombies and they are terrorizing the group. While Kyle fights the Zombies, Neal makes more formula. With Kyle not available, he uses Leslie’s DNA instead. They give this new formula to the team and all appear cured. Neal is bitten in the battle, but he also drinks the formula and appears cured.
After all their experiences, Leslie and Neal have become close and Neal proposes marriage. At the wedding, we see: the formula didn’t work, it only delayed the process. The team and Neal all turn full Zombie and attack the group.
Kyle and Ethan use incredible skateboard tricks to kill the Zombies with their skateboards. All are dead except Neal. Undead Neal attacks Leslie and Kyle is forces to kill him.
Kyle and his friends return to Neal’s lab to clean it up and discover Neal’s lab notes. We learn that Neal was in fact trying to build a team of “controllable” Zombies and not looking for a cure after all. At home, Kyle has grown up and is now a motivated young man, determined to do something positive in the world.
