Synopsis:If an innocent young girl is brutalized in a bedroom, and there is no one to hear her scream, how do we know if she cried?
SYNOPSIS:
Sierra (16) is a young girl with innocent eyes, like so many girls, she loves the movie High School Musical. She is smart and pretty, and if you look at her, you would never be able tell that she suffered, but she did, something horrible was done to her, something so despicable that she can’t bring herself to remember; and, why would she, in the newspapers they would speculate that she was raped and tortured, what if that was true? Why would she want to relive that? Sierra is one of five people whose lives have been derailed by the crime.
Dani (30s) is a therapist that was assigned by the police to help with the investigation, she is a very reserved and serious person, she wants to help Sierra remember what happened on that night, help her deal with what was done to her, but with each step she takes into Sierra’s past, she realizes that the crime that happened to her is but a reflection of the suicide of her father that happened four years ago.
Alex (40s) is a police officer, he is obsessed with an anonymous letter he received, a letter describing the torture and murder of a young girl, he knows who the murderer is, but other than the letter, he has no proof, and while his life is falling apart around him, he will do all he can to bring this monster to justice.
Anna (30s) is Sierra’s mother, she was never a good mother, like so many beautiful woman, all her life was a grand pursuit of the things she wanted, she left her husband for a man, that man today is dead, and even though she knows her ex-husband was not the killer, she is ready to have him pay for the crime.
Michael (40s) is an art dealer, with a strange fascination with Van Gogh, he is also the only suspect of a terrible murder, to prove his innocence he will kidnap the only person that really knows what happened on that night, his step daughter Sierra. What happened on that night?
There are only 10 scenes in the script, with only 5 actors and no extras. Each scene is about 2 people talking, think of movie Closer, or the HBO series In Treatment.
The script will follow their lives for only one moment, then jump forward or backward in time to another moment, however hard it may be to follow the crime, the focus of the story is love, and the terrible things people will do to each other in the name of such a capricious word.
