The Dark Side of Lust

Age rating: 17 and older
The narcissist is a legend in his own mind, thinking the world revolves around him, and if opposed or slighted could become vengeful. Add sadism and sociopathy to the mix and you have an out-of-control human time bomb about to explode and who has to be stopped at all costs.

Synopsis: The Dark Side of Lust is a psychological thriller that features an antagonist who harbors an abnormal sex drive garnished with a heavy dose of malignant narcissism. Homer Houseman personifies the human male out of control. He's the living portrait of a walking, talking sadist roaming wild in society. And he couldn't care less about the human wreckage left in his wake, exemplifying the typical sociopath tendencies hiding within him. Satisfying his unrelenting urges is his main concern; the resulting consequences be damned. Thus, the villain antagonist of The Dark Side of Lust is the shocking quintessential combination of malignant narcissist and unrepentant sociopath, a common mixture in criminal psychology. Its story line explores the aberrant parameters of behavior lurking inside the mentally and socially arrested antagonist, who happens to be the Chief of Police of one of Iron City's police department's precincts. He's a living, breathing time bomb bursting with sexual desires that cannot be denied or channeled into more harmless pursuits, despite his being sworn to uphold the law. These gnawing persistent hidden urges will soon explode--if not satisfied or arrested--until the next time the similar feelings rise and hasten his out-of-control behavior toward attractive young women. To stop this desecration will become the task and responsibility of the transferred detective protagonist Bart Lane, who--slowly but surely--will zero in on Homer Houseman, his boss in the new precinct. At first he will just be suspicious. Then his curiosity as a detective will push him into investigating the incredible, while involved in the missing-persons cases of three young women, although still not aware that the assignment was just to keep the energetic, ambitious detective out of the chief-of-police's "hair." This off-shoot assignment becomes an oblique mission of mercy without Bart Lane's planning--at first--until the reason for its resolving rises to expedient necessity. The reality is that he has no choice in the matter, since to him it's the morally right thing to do. He has to put his career on the line to stop a crime against the innocent victims of what looks like a serial missing-persons epidemic that might turn out to be a homicide epidemic, before he can claim mission accomplished. As a result Bart senses he has improved and grown as a detective as well as a concerned human being, extending himself to help the weak overcome the strong.

    Creative Notes:
I've always wanted to write a psychological thriller and nobody fits the story line better than an aberrant malignant narcissist with sociopathic sadistic tendencies who will not tolerate rejection or resistance and who will make a bad situation worse since being ruled by emotions is "de riqueur" no matter what their station in life is or what side of the law they're working on and/or from.
