THE BASTARD
The illegitimate brother of a king spends his life proving his worth, while continuing to be held back by his resentful half-brother.
Synopsis:
The Bastard is a Period Drama based on the extraordinary life of John of Austria, the illegitimate brother of King Philip II of Spain.
In the sixteenth century and in a Europe rife with religious wars, John becomes a hero of Christianity after overwhelming the Turks at Lepanto, the greatest naval battle of the Renaissance.
John’s subsequent rise to power following his glory in battle leads him to the chance of securing the English crown and thus finally overcoming the stigma of illegitimacy that has dogged him throughout his life.
A dramatic pace of events and adventure ensues in his quest for validation - one that finds him having to choose between love and glory: an epic quest for acceptance that ends with the hero buried as a king.
