Tom Connelly, a deadbeat dad and down and out private eye is given a chance to redeem himself when called in to track down the missing daughter of a Louisiana politician. The case takes him from New Orleans the to the beaches of Thailand, where nothing is as it seems.
Synopsis:In post-Katrina New Orleans, the people are as the city, half drowned and thrashing for life. Tom Connelly is a better detective than he is a father, and he's not a great detective. When an old friend gives him a job tracking down the missing daughter of a Louisiana politician, Tom sees a chance to redeem himself and pours himself in the case. He obsesses about the girl, Debbie, and she even finds a way into his dreams. He follows a trail of murder and intrigue all the way to Bangkok, Thailand, where he discovers that Debbie was kidnapped and sold into sexual slavery. The story culminates in a deadly confrontation on the beaches of Thailand during a Full Moon celebration, where Tom finally recovers a traumatized Debbie-only to discover the truth. Her father had Debbie, an embarrassment and heroin addict, kidnapped to prevent a political scandal while he ran for Governor. In a fit of rage, Tom shoots the politician and returns to see his son one last time before he is arrested for murder.
