I wrote this draft a couple years ago. I toyed with the idea of moving into a 1 hour series, but I still believe this is a stronger piece as a stand alone feature.
The Hollow Within
One man decides to deliver justice to the crime dragging his town to hell after the local car plant has shut it's doors. But after the ghosts of his dead wife and son begin to appear, Omar's perception of right and wrong begins to unravel with his mind.
Synopsis:
An industrial town falls apart when Corvex Industries closes it’s doors; chronic unemployment and poverty plunge the city into drug and crime ridden hell. Omar Garret’s family copes as best any can in the warmth of their house while the world turns cold and ugly outside their doors.
When Omar’s wife Mabel is killed in a shooting right outside their house, Omar and his son Samuel must learn to overcome the already heavy burden of their life in Rivet City. But, when Samuel is killed in a horrific accident instigated by local thugs, Omar is pushed one step too far and takes maters into his own hands.
Without care for his life or well-being, he exacts his revenge on the thugs that contributed to his son’s death only to find that the ghosts of his family return to haunt him. Now he must run from their torturing and unforgiving memory as he uses his own brutal and unforgiving brand of justice to quell the growing demons of the world.
Slowly, unknown to him, Omar descends deeper and deeper into the depths of Schizophrenia as the victims of his judgment become more and more demonic. He falls deeper and deeper into his spiraling madness until he becomes the very thing he is trying to eradicate from the world.
