Four septuagenarians have walk-on roles in the Remake of a classic comedy they starred in 40 years prior. By contract they are required to attend the premiere of the new film in Phoenix. One can't fly, two are crazy and one is slightly off her meds-this is their road trip.
Project collaboration: Open
Synopsis: Eddie, Janice, Bob and Crystal were once stars of stand-up, graduates of SNL and Second City. Crystal even has an Oscar. They've seen and done it all but time has passed them by. Oh, sure, Bob does voices for Pixar and Eddie does infomercials for Magic Mitten, a "therapeutic" massage device, but they're still past their prime. They love to perform except the only place they're recognized is in the aisles of Wal-Mart. Janice wants a comeback and Crystal just needs her meds to work. She's at a point where she can't tell a Taser from a remote control.
When the four must road trip from L.A. to Phoenix for the premiere of "It's a Big Old Goofy World" chaos ensues. They starred in the classic original and were tossed walk-on roles in this horrible remake. By contract they must attend and walk the red carpet.
With Janice's smart ass teenage grandchild, Grace, in tow everything goes fine until Crystal tasers an Arizona traffic cop. Which, of course, is caught on film by the cop-cam in the cruiser. Their ingenuity from the old days kicks to life but they must still call in a "fixer": Mikey, Bob Hope's old Personal Assistant who's currently hiding in "Celebrity F%*k-ups", a reality show rehab facility. Will they make the Premiere? Will they have a comeback? Will Mikey make it all better? Will Gail get her dog back? Oh, I haven't mentioned Gail have I? And who's the mysterious guy who put a tracker on their minivan at the rental agency? Is the "Magic Mitten" all it claims to be, or perhaps, even more than meets the eye or hand or whatever? And Who's on first? Read and, I hope, enjoy! Please have Happy and Joyous Holidays!
Stay up,
