After his family dies from the collateral damage of a superhero battle, a gifted scientist aims to get revenge on the superheroes who have overrun his city.
Synopsis:Nearing completion of his compactor gun project, a green energy device designed to easily compact trash, gifted scientist Ned Paisley takes a break to take his family shopping in the busy downtown area of Empire City. But as they walk the streets, they find a battle erupting overhead between the city's iron clad hero Neptune and his nemesis, The Red Dagger. Debris descends onto the street and inevitably crushes the pedestrians below, including Ned's family. With his family dead, Ned has taken to drinking, while committing himself to the only thing that matters to him anymore - the compactor. When finally he completes the project for his company, Vida-Tech, he's told that the gun has just been bought up by the military. It'll never be used for the green purposes Ned intended for it. Angered, Ned lashes out at his superior and is abruptly fired. With nothing more to live for, Ned decides to take his own life. But before he can, he's interrupted by a random superhero, crashing errantly through his apartment. In the heat of the moment, Ned shoots the superhero with a compactor prototype, causing him to combust in a splash of red. Ned's got a taste for blood and now wants more.
Ned seeks out Jekyll, Empire City's reigning crime lord and promises to get him into Vida-Tech headquarters and access to all the technology it holds. In turn, Jekyll will help Ned kill the hero Neptune. Ned and Jekyll successfully infiltrate the building, acquiring various prototypes and even the designs for Neptune's armor. But during the siege of Vida-Tech, Jekyll turns on Ned, but Ned successfully escapes him, while Jekyll is chased off by the police.
In the ensuing weeks Ned has taken the stolen Vida-Tech technology and has put it to his own use, systematically killing a handful of superheroes and villains throughout the city. He becomes known as the "supers killer" in the media. The police are very aware of his presence and have plotted to catch him in a trap. Meanwhile, Jekyll and his crew have created their own version of the Neptune armor, but are missing the energy source to power it. Jekyll kidnaps the family of Raymond Bilkes, the owner of Vida-Tech, and demands the source as ransom.
As Ned sneaks into a hospital to assassinate another superhero that's just been taken in, he's ambushed by a large police force. It's a trap! He finds a way out, but not before he collides into the bane of his existence himself, Neptune. Ned stands his own against the hero, until Neptune abruptly leaves their fight for a more pressing matter - he's just been alerted that Raymond Bilkes' family has been kidnapped.
Ned follows Neptune to Vida-Tech headquarters via a tracking device to find an exchange taking place. Jekyll retrieves the power source from Neptune, who he badly injures. Neptune is revealed to be Raymond Bilkes. Severely wounded, Bilkes pleads with Ned to help him save his daughter who is still in Jekyll's possession. Ned is given a choice, have his vengeance or become one of the very heroes he's despised. With images of his family flashing through his head, Ned dons Bilkes' Neptune suit and goes after Jekyll who now has a suit of his own. Ned successfully stops him and saves Bilkes' daughter, but in doing so, has caused his own damage to the city. Though he's just saved the day, Ned promises that he will get his revenge one day.
