Script 133 - J. H.'s 2nd Draft09/29/11Creative Notes:This is a major revision with an entirely new scene. The character of Hector is now introduced in a gladiator battle with his character being defined by his actions. The new scene massively changes the dynamics of the script. By introducing Hector before Marcus, it creates an equality in their relationship making it much more of a buddy pic with the two characters having equal billing.

Creative Notes:More akin to Game of Thrones or LOTRs and Gladiator in regard to style and drama than some of the other movies suggested by AS. Think LOTRs with Rome as Middle Earth and undead instead of orcs. Hopefully there is some merit to those comparisons.
This draft emphasizes characters, dialogue, and plot, succinct descriptions. -
Script 121 - Joe's 1st Draft08/31/11Creative Notes:A major revision. The zombies have been given a mystical orgin, at the hands of the witch queen Nakato and her demon brother Amadi. Titus and his fellow heroes have been made more likable. There is more betrayal and deception as Quintus tries to take over the empire by killing Flavius. Just like a true zombie movie, the only cure is to kill them all. Sorry about the type-o's, it was a rush entry.

Later he is killed but rises as a zombie to rule a Rome of the undead that can last forever. Titus is the son of the slain emperor. He becomes a gladiator and wants revenge and to clear his father's name. The zombie outbreak is due to the demon who was betrayed and wants revenge.

Better hook, better character arc for Titus, new villain, zombies are now dead gladiators from the past, zombie elephants, kept the elephant scene AS liked. A Visigoth king calls upon 600 years of dead gladiators for an army to destroy Rome from the inside out. -

99% new dialogue. 20% new characters. 40% new action sequences (had to keep the elephants).

Script 110 - Jon-Paul's 1st Draft08/31/11Creative Notes:Titus is on the down slope of his gladiatorial career. The zombies are from the underworld. The villain is backed by a deity. Lavinia is Titus's wife from before they were captured and made slaves. Yeah, it's a total rewrite, although I did work in a lot of the great action sequences and kept the same basic characters.

This can be considered a zombie origin story.
Nzambi is a very old African god that gave rise to Zombi, a snake-deity of the West African Vodun Religion. This in turn gave rise to Hatian Vodou, from which the notion of zombies first arose. -

Creative Notes:Complete rewrite follows AS notes. Kept names, redid all else for perfect blockbuster fare: plenty of gore and action supplement a surprisingly solid plot. B-movie concept meets A-list action! Titus is a slave with a dark secret. Mystical zombie origin introduced in a shocking prologue. Primary villain(s) are ambitious Roman leaders seeking to exploit the chaos & the zombie horde. This one rocks! -

Did not have time to do research so not historically accurate (if you couldn't tell from the zombies) although I think it could use some basis in reality. Spent more time on our core group of characters and less time on wolves and Gods. Mostly I tried to write what I felt the title promised: namely Zombies v Gladiators! -
Script 96 - Kristina's 1st Draft08/31/11Creative Notes:I kept most of Michael's storyline, but made a couple of changes to characters. Lavinia is a stronger character in my version, and the slave gives up more information about the wolf. I changed how quickly the infected become full fledged zombies - they actually have to die first and then transform. The ending is slightly different as well.

It's more attuned to the Roman Mythology, though I took some liberties to make it work. Lavinia doesn't stay with Titus (*Spoiler Alert* The sacrifice goes through), Octavius is a giant albino with purple eyes, the zombies don't heal, and Lavinia arrows the hell out of Quintus. Funtimes.

Script 89 - Antony's 1st Draft08/31/11Creative Notes:Titus is a more flawed character, a vain superstar in search of glory, but upon being thrust into the zombie plague he must grow and change. The zombies now have a more mystical/magical origin, rooted in human sin rather than evil. My villain is a sociopath who takes advantage of the situation rather than causes it. I kept the best set pieces from the original, but gave them my own spin.

Showed Atticus (my Titus) as a boy who was the son of Christians... Showed Atticus parents get slain by Nero's guards. Had Nero held in captivity until 81 A.D. When the colosseum was finished. Domitian is Emperor. A better romance and a better motivation for Atticus. -

I stayed consistent with the tone of the original which was serious with some banter between the characters. My other project here (Z-MAN) is a horror/comedy and I didn't want to repeat that effort.

Creative Notes:Basically, I stuck to the suggestions by Amazon Studios. Fleshed out the characters, added a major villain who masterminds the events. The dynamics between the characters is tighter. The only major changes was the conclusion, which I entirely rewrote from the 'cure' that the original script offered. My ending ties the reversion of the plague directly in to the battle with the arch-villain. -

Script 48 - David's 1st Draft08/26/11Creative Notes:Evil sorcerer Macrianus plans to create an invincible army by using an Assyrian cuneiform tablet hidden away in a tomb in Southwest Africa over a thousand years earlier.
My version addressed the notes by adding a villain, humor, some subtext and depth to the characters.
(A hurricane threatens to knock out the internet until beyond the deadline, so I am putting up this not quite finished version.) -

Creative Notes:This is a complete rewrite. I kept most of the main characters and the story structure except for the ending. I changed the time period to when the Colosseum was built, used the actual emperor from this period, and removed references to medieval weaponry. Also replaced the cure for zombieism, resserecting the dead and granting of immortality with a more realistic ending. -

There is a true villian with a evil, self serving people. A lot of new action sequences have been added. The entire final act has been rewritten. I have removed everything about the antidote and have an ending more in line with Roman mythology.

Creative Notes:We followed AS notes for revision: Broadened Titus character, Made supernatural reasons for Zombie, and broadened the bad guy. Did away with all things WOLFBEAST and ANTIDOTE. Fully entrenched the zombies into Roman Mythology and the God of the Underworld, Orcus. Changed a few characters, mainly: Arrias, now a Senator and Lavinia, a kickass female Gladiator. More than 50% different, kept middle. -

Creative Notes:Total rewrite with love, tragedy and adventure, based on the most famous Orphic Tale 'Search For Eurydice'. I've upgraded the Zombie theme to that of great Mythical Beasts with motives and arc. This is a gritty exploration of death based on the Greek epic which contains none other than 'The Golden Fleece'. -
Script 20 - Thomas's 1st Draft07/26/11
Creative Notes:Some dialogue has been polished, some scenes have been tightened or slightly altered. Inconspicuous comedy has been added to heighten the fun. Two subplots have been added: one, Titus is the son of Jupiter, king of the Gods, and two, the zombie plague was orchestrated by Quintus through a scheme with Mars, God of War. The final third-or-so of the script is almost completely original material. -
Script 17 - Tommy's 2nd Draft07/20/11Creative Notes:Tried to get rid of anything overly anachronistic in language. Added some more depth to characters, mostly Titus and Quintus. Added a scene with Quintus and Flavius directly influencing the Zombie outbreak, giving Quintus more "blame" for allowing it to happen (and creating a second zombie for Titus' arena fight). Added an early line where Kahotep tries to explain the legend but is ignored.

Script 13 - Tommy's 1st Draft07/12/11Creative Notes:Changed origin to Egyptian roots, added a scene to explain and threaded the legend over the story. The slave has a larger role. Changed a lot of dialogue. Titus is more of a wise cracker than a straight man. Lavinia and him flirt a lot more, building up the romance. Flavius is young and brattier.
I didn't add a villain, but gave a reason Romans went to Egypt. Third act incorporates the lore. -
Script 12 - Rick's 3rd Draft07/11/11Creative Notes:In addition to my last revision, I enhanced some fight scenes, gave an explanation why the wolf was turning people into zombies, and provided more characterization and ego to Titus. I also added some more information to make Flavius more of a super-villian.

Script 10 - Rick's 2nd Draft07/10/11Creative Notes:I added a fight scene at the beginning of the film to bring in action sooner and also bring in the zombie concept sooner. It also ties in the end of the film nicely. I edited some dialogue and added a good bit of dialogue. I greatly enhanced the romance concept to make the film more appealing for female viewers. I also added a new ending to the script. Also, made it more historically accurate.

Creative Notes:Original script was formatted in named paragraph styles and so was very easy to revise. This draft is a general overall edit for un-film able action and more strict adherence to PRESENT TENSE, ACTIVE VOICE, AND STRONG ACTION VERBS. -

Creative Notes:Tightened up the dialogue and descriptions, trimmed away extra scenes, changed the formatting so that shots start with a new line and removed internal descriptions as well as camera angles.
Also set up at the beginning that the slave gives a prophetic warning that is not heeded vs making him so passive. -
