She manages to capture him and he is inevitably sentenced to life in prison.
Casey distances herself from everyone and leaves everything behind. It doesn't stop Sebastian from obsessing over her. He gains an extreme obsession and love for her.
Eight year later, Sebastian escapes and once again, Casey is drawn back into his world. This time though, Casey is the target and everyone knows. She returns to work and along with a new partner, Detective Bryant Kinkaid, she begins the search for Sebastian Cole once again. They go through old records, files and evidence to find him but Sebastian is one step ahead as always. During this manhunt, Bryant becomes very fond Casey. A connection starts to grow between them. She tries to explain to him that in order to catch Sebastian, they must use her as bait. Bryant is determined to not let that happen.
Eventually, Sebastian does kidnap Casey and they have their long-awaited one on one time. Sebastian opens himself up to her and she is forced to recognize all of her mixed emotions towards him. All he wants is her.
Meanwhile, Bryant frantically tries to find them and after deep investigation, he discovers where they are. Bryant finds Casey but there is no Sebastian Cole to be found. He disappears never to be seen again. However, it doesn’t erase the unusual bond that he and Casey have formed for life.
