A resurrected teen discover he is the result of a human-werewolf union, with evil vampire blood flowing through his veins, and possibly mankind’s last hope to save the world from an ancient evil.
Synopsis:Scotland, 1883: Werewolf THOMAS MCALLISTER (30’s) proudly announces that his soon to be born son, IAN, will be the next in the line of McAllisters to protect the people in their small village. Creature and human being alike let loose a cheer at the news. Everyone except WRAITH, a powerful vampire who used to be friends with Thomas in their murdering days, but that was before Thomas married a human, FIONA, and settled down.
The COUNCIL gives Thomas the famed “l’epee de la sorcieuse” and orders him to execute Wraith. Only this sword, made from the blood of witches to avenge the sister Wraith killed, can defeat him. Meanwhile, Wraith turns Fiona into a vampire. Knowing that becoming a creature will kill her baby, Fiona begs Thomas to kill her and save their child. Reluctantly, he does as she asks, giving the infant boy to his father-in-law, CAMERON ABERDEEN (50’s) to raise as his own. Thomas tries to kill Wraith but the vampire proves too strong. Thomas dies and both Wraith and the sword are buried under the rubble of his castle.
Twenty years later in New York City, Ian continues to believe that Cameron is his father. He’s tragically gunned down, fulfilling the prophecy that the half-wolf, half-human child would die by the time he was twenty-five.
Over a hundred years later, a demolition crew finds the sword in the ruins of Wraith’s castle. It’s sent to patriarch WILLIAM ABERDEEN and his children ANDREW and KAIRA, the most recent generation of Aberdeens dedicated to protecting the prophecy and watching out for mankind. They know that Wraith has also escaped the rubble of his home and, using a special power, brings Ian out of the grave and back to life. Confused by his situation, modern life, and the crazy story his relatives tell him about his destiny to save the world, Ian doesn’t know what to believe.
Worried that the prophecy has it wrong, Andrew meets with Wraith and makes a deal to deliver Ian and the sword in exchange for sparing his family. When Wraith kills Kaira’s fiancée, JACK, it becomes clear that he can’t be trusted. Wraith tries to convince the confused and conflicted Ian that he is his real family, the only one who won’t lie to him. He uses ALEXIS BROWN, a lawyer at Andrew’s firm that Ian is attracted to, as bait to get Ian to kill for the first time but his plan fails. Ian goes back to the Aberdeens and begins his training in earnest.
When Wraith takes their father hostage, Andrew’s attempt to get him back by giving up the sword ends in his death and Kaira nearly being turned into a vampire. Alexis refuses to let Ian go to face Wraith alone, however. Together, they are able to destroy Wraith’s army of vampires and bring him down in a final confrontation.
Red Aberdeen was conceived in 1999 after seeing The Matrix and being a fan of the TV series Angel, the vampire with a soul. This version is my third revision. I am also turning this screenplay into a novel.
