The Final Shot
Two best friends, Ryan and Kevin, have spent the last few years trying to make a movie. Just as they begin filming, the lead actor decides to quit and take the script with him. Now, Ryan and Kevin will have to start again as they attempt to make the best movie of all time.
Synopsis:
After graduating from film school, Ryan is attempting to direct his first film. Filming begins and we meet Kevin, the producer of the movie. Kevin is Ryan’s best friend and has been by his side since they were 10 years old. As Ryan calls action, Randall, the cocky actor, begins to act out the scene with Jenna. Randall is responsible for writing the script they are shooting, which is cheesy and extremely over-dramatic. As the day progresses, Ryan gets into a huge argument with Randall because his acting is just as terrible as his script. Since Randall believes that he is the best actor in the world, he decides to leave with his script and make the movie on his own.
Ryan sits in alone in his basement as the doorbell rings. Ryan answers the door to discover that Kaela is there waiting for him. Kaela is Ryan’s neighbour and best female friend. Kaela deeply cares for Ryan, unfortunately he is unaware of this information. She is there for a sleepover that they have on a weekly basis. Ryan enteres Dylan's bedroom to borrow pillows for the sleepover. Dylan is Ryan's younger brother. Dylan forces Ryan to read a poem that he wrote. Ryan re-enters the basement to find Kaela in her pajamas. They have a conversation and go to sleep.
Randall sits alone at his laptop as he discovers a film competition coming up in the next few weeks. Randall decides to call Trevor and ask him to be his camera-man. Trevor agrees. As Trevor hangs up the phone, we reveal that Kevin is sitting there next to him. The next morning, Kevin calls Ryan and wakes him up. Kevin and Ryan have a serious talk about starting a new movie. Kevin mentions the fact that all they need to get started is a writer. Ryan suddenly realizes who could write a new script for them.
Ryan wakes up Dylan and tells him how great his poem was and convinces him to write a script for him. Dylan agrees as long Ryan and Kevin can get a new laptop for him to write on. So Ryan and Kevin attempt different ways of raising money for the laptop as Dylan begins writing the script. Ryan realizes that they don’t have enough money yet and figures out where Kevin can get the rest of the money from. Janice, Kevin’s mother, sits at home as Kevin asks her for some money. Since they are rich, she doesn’t hesitate and hands him a cheque for $1000.00. Kevin gives the cheque to Dylan who asks if they did auditions yet. Kevin says he will post for auditions online.
Randall sits at home as he finds their audition posting online. He calls someone and tells them what he found. Ryan and Kevin hold auditions in Ryan’s basement. Many actors show up, however none of them are that good. Until a beautiful girl named Angela enters and nails her audition. As Ryan walks Angela out, she flirts with him and convinces him to give her the part in their movie.
Ryan convinces Kevin to act as the lead in their movie, since all the male auditions didn’t go well.
The next day, the entire cast and crew sit around a table as they read through the finished script.
Kevin tells Ryan that he is moving away and they need to finish the film before he leaves. As filming begins, the first scene they shoot is a scene where Angela is tied up and Kevin rescues her from a bomb. The second scene they shoot is a scene where Kevin interrogates Angela. After shooting goes very well, Ryan throws a party and accidentally gets himself drunk. Randall arrives at Dylan’s house and asks about Ryan's movie. Dylan calls Ryan and tells him to come home quickly. Kaela arrives at Ryan's house for another sleepover. Ryan kisses Kaela, but she is unaware that he is drunk.
On the third filming day, they shoot a foot-chase sequence and Kaela leaves a message on Ryan’s cell-phone. After filming, Ryan goes to Kaela’s house and talks about Angela. Kaela gets mad and kicks him out. Angela arrives at Dylan's house and he tells her about his new laptop. Kaela calls Kevin and asks if Ryan likes Angela. Ryan arrives at home, goes downstairs and sees Angela waiting for him. Kevin tells Kaela why he gave up acting and convinces her to go tell Ryan that she likes him. Angela kisses Ryan as Kaela enters and sees them. Kaela leavs very upset.
The next day, Angela meets with Randall and gives him a briefcase as Trevor films it. Angela notices Trevor and tries to blackmail him. Trevor runs back to Ryan's hosue and shows the video footage to him. Kevin announces that the laptop is missing just as Angela enters. Ryan interrogates Angela and asks about the laptop. He yells at her and kicks her out of his house. Kevin and Ryan get into an argument about the movie, and how Randall stole their laptop. Angela shows up at Randalls house, in an attempt to get the laptop back for them. Randall catches on to what she may be doing, and ties her up.
Ryan arrives at Kaela's house, and Kevin decides to break into Randall's house to try and get the laptop back. Dylan receives a phone call from Randall, saying that he has kidnapped Angela, knowing that Dylan would immediately come to her rescue. Angela warns him over the phone, but she gets cut off by Randall, and Dylan makes his way over to Randall's house. Upon entering through his side door, he gets knocked in the head with a bat, and wakes up in his basement, tied to Angela. When Angela tells Dylan it was so romantic of him to try and save her, Dylan realizes that he may not be gay after all, and is in love with Angela. Their romantic kiss is interrupted when Randall comes in, and takes Dylan to his car, where he throws him in.
Kevin arrives a little too late to save Dylan, but rescues Angela, who knows exactly where Randall is going, and try to follow him. First they pick up Ryan from Kaela's house, and begin the chase. While Randall drives to submit their film, Dylan unties himself, distracts Randall, and escapes the van by jumping and rolling out of it. Dylan gets picked up by Ryan, Angela, and Kevin, who are about to follow Randall, but Dylan explains that he doesn't have the real laptop. When Angela came by their house, he thought it might be some sort of trick, so he instead gave Randall their old laptop, which instead of the movie, has gay porn on it.
1 week later, everyone watches the finished movie at a film festival. Ryan says goodbye to Kevin as he moves away. Dylan ends up with Angela and Ryan ends up with Kaela.
