QUICKSAND
A FUN TEEN DRAMEDY -- After borrowing $40 bucks from his employer's cash register, a teen is plunged into a series of increasingly disastrous circumstances which rapidly spiral out of his control.
Synopsis:
Fifteen year old car washer Jaden Rice lacks funds for a heavy date with high maintenance Briana, the type whose life’s ambition is to find a sucker to buy her a sexy new outfit. So, he embezzles forty bucks from his employer’s cash drawer. To make up the shortage, he goes in debt for a buck twenty. Thereafter, every means he tries to get out of trouble only gets him deeper and deeper into debt and crime, while everyone he meets is out for what they can get for themselves.
QUICKSAND is a re-mastering of a 1950 flick (in the public domain) by the same name that starred Mickey Rooney and Peter Lorre. This version is contemporary and written for a younger audience.

Creative Notes:I had a spare 8 hours and gave Lisa's version of "Quicksand" a once over and tweaked some dialogue and scenes.
I must congratulate her on an updated and interesting take on an old story and if it's still open will focus on Sydney's POV as I think at the moment it floats between her and Jaden and I believe by so doing will make it a more interesting and focused story.

Script 3 - Lisa's 3rd Draft11/12/11Creative Notes:Reads like quicksand - the further you get along in the story the deeper it sinks in. And -- No one can get out of quicksand on their own. They need help from someone to pull them out, especially when they're about to go under.
btw -- I purposely wrote the old man, pawn shop Hustler character as a cameo role for 90 year old Mickey Rooney. It's been 60 years since he made the first Quicksand. -

Creative Notes:Hey Quicksand Fans -- This was all shot in less that 8 hours on a zero budget: Ed Wood-style. A trailer without a movie to take clips from is not ideal but I hope you enjoy it. My first ever... and I had to crash course myself to edit this thing too.

Young Jaden is a lying, thieving, selfish punk, verging on sociopathic tendencies. Just another boy heading for juvenile detention. And THIS IS HIS STORY.
This revised version makes me think of the George Clooney's character at the end of Up in the Air when he found out his playmate was... just playin'. This is the "non-Disney" kid version. -
