Residents of a fishing village think a Great White is killing Surfers; but then some young women disappear while sunbathing and some fishermen are brutally murdered aboard a fishing boat at sea. Does it have anything to do with the Navy's recent top-secret Hydra Project?

Full synopsis

Synopsis: When the body of a Surfer washes up on the beach in Seaview, a tiny fishing village in California, the residents think there's a great white shark in the area. But after several pretty young women mysteriously disappear and then some grizzly murders of fishermen occur on shore & aboard boats at sea, the town looks to the Sheriff to solve the murders.

Enter Dr. Sandra Davis, a Marine Biologist & shark expert who, after examining the remains of the Surfer, reveals that Seaview is facing a menace far more deadly than a great white shark.

She tells the Sheriff about the Hydra Project, a top secret military-funded genetic research experiment 12 years ago, that had lost some genetically-altered amphibians in the coastal waters off of Santa Anita, another small town just north of Seaview.

Sandra explains that Santa Anita suffered from the same issues that Seaview is now facing; Surfers & Fishermen brutally murdered and young women vanishing. The bottom line: the tadpoles that the Military had accidentally released had grown into huge, highly-intelligent & very dangerous, amphibious carnivores and were living in Santa Anita Bay.

She goes on to explain, apparently the Navy went in, and under the pretense of War Games, cleaned up all evidence of the Hydra Project... Except that, now they are back; bigger and meaner than ever... and have taken up residence in the underwater caves in Pirate's Cove, just outside of Seaview... The Spawn of the Hydra!

Inspired by the classic old Monster movies I grew up on in the 50's that were always blaming "out-of-control" Science for the Monsters. Back then nuclear fall-out & radio-activity were blamed as the reason for everything from "Godzilla" to "Them" and "It Came From Beneath the Sea" but today it looks like Genetic Research is the new scientific villain.
