Struggling painter Cherie Surowski's life takes an unusual turn when she accepts a talking frog as her new muse.
Project collaboration: Open
Synopsis: City girl CHERIE is obsessed with painting fish. In her fantastical visions, her muse is a talking fish, MR. FISH.

Elsewhere, in a small town, ELLY is tormented by visions of girls drowned by a KIDNAPPER. She attempts suicide by jumping from a waterfall, but is saved by a young man, ADAM.

Cherie shares with friends the story of her first childhood memory: YOUNG CHERIE sees the sky over a valley filled with clouds that look and "swim" like fish.

Cherie has a dream in which Mr. Fish leaves her. Depressed, she meets OLIVER in a bar: He's a tiny, talking frog who appears in her drink. He can inspire her. But, after accepting his offer, her visions grow dark.

Elly and Adam fall in love, but she starts seeing a vision of Cherie drowning. She and Adam move to the city into a building that is the same one where Cherie lives.

Cherie's dark visions put her in the psychiatric ward. When she tells her first childhood memory again to someone, a crucial point has changed: Her mother was not there with her, because she had died months earlier that event.

Oliver confronts Elly, telling her she originally came to the city alone to find Cherie. Elly's inability to remember sends her into shock; Adam rushes her to the hospital, where she literally changes into the version of herself that Oliver described: A miserable young woman infatuated with a street artist, Adam. Not knowing him, she sums up the courage to talk to him, and they appear to hit it off. But he has a girlfriend, which crushes Elly.

Cherie escapes the psychiatric ward and returns to her loft. Elly is in her own loft in the same building; triggered by her misery, she experiences a vision which traps Cherie with her in a disjointed realm -- existing between reality and dreams -- that features locations seen earlier in this story. Elly confronts the Kidnapper who tries to drown her, but she fights back. Yet the growing, and quite literal, Darkness within her threatens Cherie's life.

The two women don't cross paths until Cherie uses her talent to "see" Elly -- and is horrified because she recognizes Elly. Cherie stabs Elly through the heart, which throws Elly hurling through a watery netherworld filled with fish. At the other end, she is rescued by Adam at the base of the waterfall.

The story ends with Young Cherie watching the fish in the sky, and her mother is with her again -- but now we're shown who she is: Elly. It turns out that all of Elly's scenes were actually set in a time period prior to Cherie's.
