To find Sarah's approval Matt searches for her lost dog but in doing so witnesses a murder of a Priest. He narrowly escapes as the murderers dump the body out at sea. Matt is confronted by a supernatural being underwater and sees the face of a 12 year old boy.
He tries to tell Jon but he's not interested and when he goes to the Police he notices one of the murderers. He has no choice but to enlist Sarah and try and discover who the boy was.
The townspeople won't talk, they have their secret to keep.
So Matt and Sarah investigate and discover that every Leap Year two 12 year olds die in supposed fishing accidents. The investigation leads them to an orphanage where Matt discovers the Priest's identity and Sarah, being adopted herself, starts to doubt her own adoptive family.
Dan discovers the truth about Jon and steals his father's car to save his friend.
The pair return to town. Dan and his Father, SHERIFF CARTER are apprehended when they try to rescue Matt. And when Sarah is taken Matt has to finally become a man to save her. He confronts those closest to him in pursuit of the truth and discovers a town secret dating back nearly 300 years.
