At seventy-five, a retired movie star’s days of glory are long behind him. Life seems pretty much over, he feels...until he opens his front door to find the 16-year-old granddaughter he never knew on his doorstep, bags in hand to move in.
Synopsis:The story is about Joe, who - forty years ago - was a big movie star. These days, though, he’s just a grumpy old sod that nobody remembers, his world shrunk to the confines of his house, his connections to the modern world almost non-existent. Imagine his surprise when his sixteen year-old granddaughter turns up on his doorstep. She’s had an argument at home and she needs somewhere to stay. They’ve never had much to say to each other before and each knows absolutely nothing about the other. And now they’re sharing a house. In the beginning, Joe sees her as an intruder to his world and is reluctant to help her. And the fact that a young depressed girl is living now under the same roof as an old depressed man doesn’t improve either’s situation. But then Joe recalls his duties as a grandfather and he decides to support her as good as it gets. This, of course, is a mission impossible for a man who has not much interest in his own life. Most of the time he says and does, in his clumsy way, the wrong thing at the wrong time. There’s hope because he gets support from his neighbor and his two old friends. These old guys have nothing else in mind than women, booze and having a good time. Just envision the awkward situation when the conservative and depressed Joe finds himself in the company of three dirty old fellas, living the most political incorrect life that’s possible and even being proud of it! Of course after some time, Joe starts to enjoy the new lifestyle and is even able to convey some of his zest to his granddaughter. Unfortunately he has to pay a high price for that and finds himself as a grumpy old sod that is confined to his house, again. The fact that his granddaughter moves out does not help much because he got used to her company. But the three old fellas still have some plans for Joe...
