A dark take on "Alice in Wonderland", where Wonderland and the inhabitants have grown up to become psychotic, violent, and evil. They use Alice's son as leverage to lure her back to Wonderland where she belongs.
Synopsis:In Victorian era England, Edward Liddle grew up listening to the whimsical, odd, and strange tales his mother told him before bed. His mother is Alice, of the infamous "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland." The stories captivated his imagination and sprawled unrelenting creativity of his own. However, the tales soon stopped. Himself along with his mother started growing up and changing with the times. Edward, now 13, never stopped believing in the wonderful stories, and his imagination never slowed down.
He was not the only one who forgot the tales and longed for his mother to tell him more, to which she casted them out as rubbish. One night, the home is visited by the White Rabbit, however he is homicidal and twisted. He lures Edward back into the rabbit hole and into Wonderland, however things have changed more than he realizes. Wonderland is now called "Once Wonderland" by it inhabitants, who are all horrific and vile versions of their former selves. Wonderland has grown up.
Edward eludes capture and comes in contact with many characters from his mother's stories, however they are all blood thirsty and violent. Edward is sought after by The Queen of Hearts, who is now old and haggard, seeking his ability to turn her young again. Edward's cunning mind and curiosity match his mothers and it gains the attention of The Cheshire Cat. The Cheshire Cat eludes to the dark new history of Once Wonderland, and knows that Edward is being sought after for his possible abilities to make Wonderland normal again. However, The Cheshire Cat uses Edward as leverage to get Alice to come back, and ventures to the real world leaving Alice no choice but to believe again.
Edward is caught in a bind when he meets The Mad Hatter. Completely insane and grief-stricken over the absence of Alice, bargains, pleading, and excuses are of no use against him. His tea is part of the reason Wonderland has changed. Consuming the tea turns one into a lunatic, and Hatter is the rangler of such. All The Mad Hatter longs for is Alice's love, and will kill anyone and everyone who stands in his way.
Edward escapes one clutch and falls into another, The Queen's. Edward is held captive, and Alice is lured into the hellish Once Wonderland by The Cheshire Cat. Now she must fight to find her son and save him from the evil clutches, but who can be trusted? The Cheshire Cat wants to be king of the newly envisioned Wonderland, and turns everyone against each other for his own evil desires. Edward breaks free of the prison and learns of his mother being in Once Wonderland, and won't leave without her.
