This is a very creative film like none I have seen before. There is a scene in it that has stuck with me since I saw it two years ago and it will stay with me for a long time. It is a poignant scene where the main character runs through the streets of Seattle ripping apart a giant red stuffed heart. It's genius and it should be seen by many.

This is the absolute perfect "first date" movie. The storyline, along with the development of the characters, is something that will lead to easy conversation later. One finds themselves caught up in the characters, loveable but human. The dialogue is something that you have to listen to carefully to catch everything, and the overall emotion is quite powerful.

If I had a first date to go on, I would go to Coffka...and order one on the rocks for later.

If you like eclectic humor, well developed characters, and the "indi" movie feel...this is your flick.

The idea for COFFKA's plot is brilliant and opens up a lot of possibilities for an amazing little movie: an outsider only has three more days to find someone to love him. The actors, too, do a very nice job acting out their roles.

The problem with this movie is that it rather seems to attempt a character study than the sort of fast-pace comedy which the plot would actually prescribe. The story just doesn't move fast enough to keep the audience interested, characters don't seem to be developing, and it takes way too long for the first date to happen. Most Internet users will have zapped away by then. I must admit I only stayed till the 48th minute when the second half appeared to be dragging along as much as the first.

This is a pity since the ideas in the plot and, in fact, in every single scene, are excellent and really funny. But what need is there to spend several minutes on the (relatively) static doctor's scene when all there is to say is that our poor protagonist will die soon if he won't find someone to hug him? What do we need endless phone calls or the extremely long diner scene for if not much is happening to bring forward the story? In the first half, most scenes could probably boiled down to half of their length. And I think that is exactly what will make a great movie out of our brilliant idea.

Coffka is a sweet, modern fable with an arty, stoner-film sensibility. Its absurd blend of sacred and slapstick is perhaps inspired by the movie’s eponymous cocktail made of vodka with a jolt of strong Seattle coffee.

Social misfit Clay, whose name suggests his fatally cracked heart, tags along with moped riding frat-bro Chad, who has been enlisted to help him find life-saving true love.

There is a subplot about the selfish Tiffany who wants out of her marriage by baiting her Type A, yet likeable husband into adultery. Both storylines come together over an awkward game of Taboo, where communication and relationships finally unravel.

The movie’s subdued pacing can be slow, but usually serves to let scenes breathe, unpacking the nuances of troubled lives before sucker-punching you with jarringly funny moments. It finds the sublime in the small and mundane, though ends on a larger and more grandiose note.

Odd and smart, without becoming self-important or cold, Coffka is worth watching.

This movie is often presented as a comedy but it is very poignant with a lot of romance and depth. All the characters have trouble in relationships which brings humor and sadness at the same time.

For full disclosure, I'm related to someone who worked on this project.

This is a refreshing way of looking at the needs of the human heart. Instead of bludgeoning the audience with moralistic one-liners, this film presents flawed, fragile humanity in its nobility and ignominy.

The story of Clay is our story. There are no whitewashed knights in shining armor or pontificating heroes.

COFFKA is in the tradition of Chaucer: poking fun at our ridiculous, base selves with raucous and sometimes subtle humor which strips off the veil to reveal the delicate nature of our ephemeral hearts.
