Having read "The Velvet Elvis", I had a good idea of the kind of action to expect from this writer. Gory, over the top, and awesome. This has the feel of the violent Japanese action/splatter flicks like "Ichi the Killer" given a 90's Tarantino Revival spin. The plot is complex and can use some clarity here and there. But it's an exciting read, stomach-churningly violent, and it is just a big heaping donut of style, infused with substance, deep fried, and glazed with style again. Just delicious to consume, but so very bad for us in so many ways. A guilty pleasure.
