Painful. This script is painful. I'm reading it and thinking, why is this being written? It's corny, the writing isn't very funny, and the characters are lame.

It has a couple things going for it: It jumps on the bandwagon of social networking movies/scripts. So that's good, cause it could get an audience...oh, and the protagonist is the cliched, nerdy/dorky white kid...that's good right???

I'm not sure what others reviewers were thinking when they wrote in, but one guy got it right. This is BAD.

Question: how does this movie get enough activity that it's at the top of the list? Also, how did this win something?

Oh, and farmville is so two years ago.

Scripts are all about timing, that's why it's important to get the beats down and follow structure. And why every script in Hollywood, goes through so many rewrites from basic plots points to dialogue to final rewrites: as in a Alvin Sargent (who's brilliant at it)

SO, on that note, I would agree with one person here... can't get pass the first ten pages which is death in Hollywood (even though I re-read to page 30). Like the title, needs a major rewrite, think amazon passed this solely on facebook hype and tech savvy readers. Hence, that's where the problems can lie, hard to shoot stories based off of computer screen...even Social Network never did any big numbers in the US...did overseas, based off of Fincher's rep...he's a God like figure in the European film-making community.

Would like to see the next draft to fully review this script.

A couple days ago, I started reading this script - and then couldn't stop. It's rare that I find a concept for a movie that has such potential. The modern theme is handled gracefully, the dialogue is witty, and the cast is GREAT. Jeff Pants is now my new favorite fictional character. Hands down. I found myself imagining him as Jeff Bridges' "The Dude", only he writes a blog.

Some of these other reviews complain about pacing and setting, how the first act takes place mostly in the same room, and how there's a lot of looking at screens. I don't see a problem; the characters and dialogue are more than strong enough to carry these scenes, and if filmed at a brisk pace, it wouldn't be a drag at all. Facts on screens can be cut together in interesting ways to keep the scenes from slouching. The character arcs are strong where it counts, and the parts with Owen and Jessica have the power to be really moving. The humor is sharp, and it doesn't fade away by the end of the second act, unlike so many other comedy films, which by the halfway point just seem to forget to be funny.

The only changes that it needs are relatively minor. For instance, the Uncle Todd character should either be cut, or else made so he's just Owen's neighbor rather than his uncle - it seems awkward for Owen's character to be as detached as he is if he has fairly immediate family show up. Kat should be cut out - her character doesn't really serve a purpose during the printer scene, and could easily replaced by the bearded blonde man trying to dance with Vince as he chases MoBu. The cameos from YouTube celebrities are a nice touch, but seeing as how fast internet memes get outdated, it would probably be worth updating who appears onstage (keep the Techno Viking, though). Lastly, in the end, Rishi and Morbid_Bunny_3 should end up together, even if not full-on romantically. It doesn't make sense for him to go back to Azita after he's learned to move on and shake his old dependencies.

With a few minor tweaks, this could be a million-dollar script. It made me feel like I'd actually seen a hilarious film, and were it not for the practical effects budget, I'd totally want to make it myself (probably would have to settle for a test movie or a trailer)

P.S. I couldn't help googling it, and...

It seems as this story is written for a certain type of audience member, hence, only some will get it and appreciate it. The dialogue is a bit "on-the-nose," and some points in the story are overly cliche and overly stereotypical. As far as the structure, I get lost. The writers did not bother to put acts in their story so I don't know what starts where or where what ends; the exposition is fair. This script is o.k. and I would highly recommend rewriting it upon further revival or opportunities.

PREMISE:

The premise is very much innovative. "A lonely web designer ventures into the real world with his Facebook friends to rescue the internet girlfriend he's never met." A potential hit premise just waiting to hit the cinemas that is what I will say about this -- Just excellent!

Story Structure:

Structure of this story is also well-done but I think premise of this script is so good that I think one more look on structure is needed.

CHARACTER:

I thought every characters of this script is well crafted for this kind of script -- From Owen, Jeff, Jessica, Rishi and even Morbid-bunny-3. All are brilliant in their own, and they all add something to the script. Nobody feels wasted or left alone.

DIALOGUE:

They are brilliant, super funny and flows nicely!

EMOTION:

Every emotion is well described from beginning to the end, they just make you fall in love with characters. That's all I have to say.

OVERALL:

Great read and brilliant premise along with story that makes you laugh and love in its own way. This is something that any producer from Hollywood want to make a full length movie on it!

BOX OFFICE ASSUMPTIONS:

If this movie is made than I think budget should be around 30's to 40's. They way I see it, considering the premise and the story itself, I think this one is potential comedy BLOCKBUSTER, may be end up like hangover with earning of 250M, because this one definitely has that spark!

BUDGET: 30 MILLION
DOMESTIC: 200 TO MILLION (Somewhere close to it)
OVERSEAS: 170 TO 200 MILLION

VERDICT:

BLOCKBUSTER!

I really enjoyed reading this script. Very funny. It got kind of confusing in some parts of your action and dialog, but nothing that wasn't clarified with a second look. All in all. It was a pleasure to read.

Overall, this is so passe. I mean, there are some funny parts and the writers seem to be decent, but it's just not that original.
Reviewing these scripts, I'm expecting to find something really original. Something that isn't done twice a year in Hollywood.

I just think this script is average, if that.

The characters aren't cool, intelligent, witty or sophisticated. Clipping a few worthless distracting weird contrived scenes up to page 40 might work, but, when the urgency of finding Jessica is lost, and, of course, as others have mentioned, at page ~60 when suddenly ugly unworkable racist overtones came into play, I seriously question why anyone would want to help another person with such tone-deaf attitudes rewrite.

This is not personal, even what I take to be insensitive racist overtones - which others have noticed - can be overcome. Cliff can be a good writer. I hope he becomes one.

I read this script, and I feel compelled because of that waste of time, to let everyone know that this script is very far from a 5 star rating.

The dialogue was bad.
The characters were 1 dimensional... and lame.
The premise was lacking.

Social networks are a hot topic, and I'll give the writers that and only that. As for handling that topic, they did that poorly.

I feel offended that I took the time to read this and write a reasonable review, only to have my original review taken off.
