I've seen review after review for this film. Several, and rightfully so, feel the film shares similarities with Megamind or Despicable Me. I disagree with these comparison. I'm going out on a limb here and I'm going to say this writer was a huge fan of films like In Like Flint, Danger: Diabolik.
There was a unique type of satire in the late 60's. It was a different type of world then. I don't think anyone has been able to recapture that style that feel. It was dangerous, uncertain...we just started a futile war. Well...maybe things weren't so different. If someone has an understanding of that visual style, then they have a good grasp of film theroy. If that same person can capture that visual style through writing, that's damn good writing.
Now keep in mind I have only read the recent draft. I think that's a compliment to the work though. People care enough about this project to see it succeed. That's something the writer should be very proud of.
Again though that's my take and much like the chef's on Top Chef I might be "tasting" something the creator did not intend.
