This script has been in the semi's for several months but was just brought to my attention this week, and I'm glad it was. Not only is it a really fun read, but I think the world Lyle created, giving real magic/powers to Salem witches and taking them through an adventure with a Romeo & Juliet love story at its core, could make for a really fun movie. The cult-like, ostracized community who are feared by society has many elements of the vampire genre. And the young hero desperate to venture out into the world plays out w all the Joseph Campbell elements. Structurally, I think this is solid. Tonally, it sometimes seems a little mixed...I'm not sure if it takes itself too seriously or is trying to be more tongue and cheek. And although the witches struggle with how they use their skills and good and evil, I think the author can take their inner conflicts further, like vampire movies often do when they use blood sucking as a metaphor for addiction or other personal challenge that needs to be overcome in the hero's arc. Just a thought. Anyway, I think there's a movie here w a lot of potential. Well done, Lyle.
