Having lived in Florida for all of the eighties I really like the sinkhole angle. I think it is unique.
Also drugs were a huge part of the culture back then and now, so it is a good tie in.
I believe the Vice President has to be good or bad. I think being duped doesn't work. Maybe the Colombian sub plot could be worked in here.
I love all the cave scenes. The bonding between the President and his grandson is very good character development.
Is there anyway to give the President's daughter an expanded role.
I think you have the talent it takes to compete in this contest. I bet this is a good novel.
