"The Umpire" reads as one of the classic baseball films that I grew up with. Think "Little Big League," "Rookie of the Year," "Angels in the Outfield" and other kid appropriate family films that celebrate the love of the game, but that also take viewers on a journey as the main character learns something important. The something learned is usually character shaping, leading the hero to become a better person in the end.
I found the script engaging, appropriate for kids as well as entertaining for adults. Would love to see this thing on the screen now that I've read it.
