Firstly, the story is over explained in the dialogue, it ambles along amiably enough if a little crassly at times, a lot more show not tell would have been far better.
The direction is competent but pedestrian, it never intrigues or surprises. Some of the charter’s are a little thinly drawn and delivered by, on the whole wooden actors, (Or is it good actors struggling with the script and an unconfident director?)
The lead is of course very attractive but lacks any truth, venerability or resonance in her performance although she is good at shouting and crying. Truth and venerability are the goods an actor needs to bring to a lead role even in a little movie. I wanted to like this film, I really did and I am sure the project will be driven along with it’s own momentum now, I will watch with interest but at no point did I find myself sympathetic to any one in it or their journey. I could go on but I won’t for fear of countless hate emails. Is this really one of the best scripts on offer? A made for TV movie premise, not a feature film, at best delivered up on a Tuesday afternoon when you’re sick at home with a cold.
