Kirk originally hails from Detroit where he served as an actor and director of The Second City Touring Company and as an actor and co-writer of four revues on the Detroit Mainstage. In Chicago, Kirk produced two Second City hits, "Between Barack and a Hard Place" and "Disposable Nation". He is Head Writer for Second City Communications, the corporate communications arm of The Second City, where he has also served as an actor, director and facilitator. With Maribeth Monroe, he co-wrote "Sex and the Second City" and co-wrote and performed the two-person romantic comedy "My Cousin’s Wedding", which won the “Best New Script” award from Michigan’s Oakland Press and went on a year-long national tour through Second City Theatricals. His other acting and writing credits include children’s theatre, outreach programs for teens, industrial stage shows, improvisational comedy, television and radio commercials, and corporate films.
