Synopsis: There is a young man in his teens who is living the boring life, few friends, not much going on.
He comes from a long family line of watch makers, and his grandfather was not only a watchmaker but world known as a watch collector. The grandfather is eccentric and wild, and his son resents him.

Monroe is a troubled young teen that inherits his eccentric grandfather's pocketwatch. His grandfather was a watchmaker whom "let the work get the best of his mind" the father quips.

The grandfather died of natural causes. He had a pocket watch and journal on his person that is in his will to go to his grandson. The estranged father is torn, but doesn’t understand why or even how he knew that he had a grandson.

The MC gets a note from the grandfather that tells him how he wished he could have seen him grow up and do this thing and that thing. Now he explains that this is one of his most precious finds, this broken pocket watch.

Monroe has a knack of taking things apart to see how they tick, and so he tries to tinker around with the clock with difficulty and resides himself to reading more of the note.

The grandfather ads that the clock is not something that can be fixed, nor is it something that is broken. It’s something that he didn’t want to have to give him like this, but circumstances made this the only option.

As monroe learns more about the keepsake from his grandfather he becomes increasingly convinced that he may not have been as cuckoo as everyone else in the family claimed and that this keepsake is no ordinary pocketwatch.
