What we love, we destroy.
Synopsis: Amazon Rain Forest, 1840... ABEL is a poet and failed revolutionary who flees into the jungle. He bunks in an Indian village, wasting his life. Until one day he wanders into a forbidden pocket forest and meets RIMA THE BIRD GIRL. She wears a dress of spider webs, summons animals to her hand, and speaks an unknown "bird language". Other times she's a dowdy granddaughter to the old hermit NUFFLO. Enchanted, Abel explores the green cathedral forest seeking Rima's mysterious origin. More puzzling, the local natives fear Rima is a demon and plot her death. Nufflo confesses Rima came from the fabled Riolama mountains, but begs not to go. Driven, the trio journeys. Nufflo tells tales of marauding bandits and lost races and ancient curses. In a hidden valley, they discover Rima's sad origin. The girl is finally free to love, but their return to the enchanted forest sparks tragedy that proves "what we love, we destroy".
