Synopsis
These prolonged Parables inside parables are based on marvelous William Buttler Yeats edition of Fairy and Folk Tales of the Irish Peasantry opens an amazing world of Irish Folklore that are echoes to touching story of three friends.
This is a story about two Irish, and one Turkish soldier and their fate during First World War. Two Irish soldiers: GILROY is the soldier of the 10th (Irish) Division, that was one of the Kitcheners New Army K1 group and CONALL is the Irish soldier, son of political prisoner that were send to Australia and joined ANZAC. The touching stories of both men are goes separately within the first part of the movie, until they have met in Gallipoli.
During Gallipoli campaign, after an infamous loss, they were imprisoned and finally met Turkish soldier AYDIN and became inseparable because AYDIN were telling them Turkish Legends and parables in order to reduce their pain-from wounds. After a recovery and mutual conclusion about absurd of this war, three of them decided to run to America.
On the way to America, the legends and parables of CONALL are deeply intertwined with the legends and parables of AYDIN. During this sailing, GILROY got sick from sepsis and asking two friends to bring him to Ireland, in order to be burry in Motherland. They are turning their course to Ireland, while GILROY already died, but they are bringing the corps of dead friend and burying him at Cliffs of Moher. After a while, CONALL and AYDIN join the Easter Rising and became part of the movement for Independence. AYDIN later went to Irish War of Independence and fell in the battle. CONALL became the key figure in Irish Independence Movement and within the final scene CONALL mounting the Irish Flag on the Customs House. Royal Munster Fusiliers were permanently disbanded on 31 July 1922 following Irish independence.
This movie is also full of W.B.Yeats, W. Blake and Thomas MacDonagh poetry and prose and about commemoration, honor, dignity, manhood and humanity.
