In a dangerous world, an Army veteran suffering from post traumatic stress disorder will do anything to protect his family, even if it means killing them.
Project collaboration: Closed
Synopsis: Paradise is set in the near future in St. Louis, Mo.

A soldier returns home and finds war on his own doorstep.

After he and his wife witness a stabbing in a parking garage following a wrestling match, a war veteran suffering from post traumatic stress disorder takes extreme measures to protect his family.

John Turner believes that the world is the enemy. That the only way he can protect his family is to keep them in the house 24 hours a day; to keep his wife from her family, friends, and from getting a job; to keep his 9 year old son from playing outside with other children; to keep his 19 year old daughter, Annie, from seeing young men and getting pregnant; and to keep a television in every room to relieve stress and boredom, but mostly to remind his family why the world is their enemy. The world is full of drugs, fornication, diseases, and murder, channel after channel, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

John has accounted for almost everything except what would happen if he is not around to protect his family? What would happen to his family if they are forced to face the world armed only with notions they've gotten about the world, and the people in it, from television? Can repressed desires become unnatural, or even incestuous?

In the midst of chaos, fear, and decay, paradise is where love lives.

    Creative Notes:
Read this version! This version amplifies the main points I failed to clarify in the previous versions. Thanks to Lee Matthias for giving me the perspective this version needed. This version more closely represents the story I attempted to tell in the first script. The characters are better developed and their motives are clearer in this version.
