I decided to do a review of the first five pages of all the scripts, and come back to the script and do a full review if the first five pages made me want to read it. I decided to start with the scripts that had not already received some reviews.

I read the original script and the Amazon Studio Story Department notes and am using my personal interpretation of what they intended only.

Pros: Action happens quickly and is well described for the most part.

Cons: Lots of overwriting: Example: Rufus and Titus exchange playful banter. Then there's dialog that's playful banter. No need to explain what we are about to hear or see. The dialog is heavy. It also seems very modern, but that could work if it's consistent. There are period pieces that do not hold to dialog conventions of the time, such as BBC's Robinhood series, or HBO's "Rome."

Pros: Titus is on page one! The other gladiators seem a bit more dimensional.

Cons: I don't like Titus. Not because he's flat, because he seems self centered. I'd like to be able to root for him. It's okay if he gives Lucius the cold shoulder, but there needs to be something to connect to so we understand why.
