About

I'm an aspiring writer. More precisely, I'm a guy who went to film school 25 years ago, spent his time since as a salesman, and is now determined to live his dream as a writer. Is that better?

My muses? Well, my wife is always at the center of my life. I'm also inspired by great sci-fi, movie soundtracks, a clear night sky when you can see the stars, and rags-to-riches stories. And I like to think that God has a part in all I do.

And one more thing...if you tell me Raiders of the Lost Ark is not the best movie ever made, then we are in for a spirited debate!

Eugene took a script that was weak at best, and turned into a comedy that I would pay to see. I read both scripts (the original, then this one) and I can honestly say Eugene's kept me in stitches with farcical imagery. While Ben Franklin himself is probably turning in his grave, anyone that reads this will be laughing their asses off! It's a fast paced read, and even though the scenes are so ridiculous, they seem plausible here! Kudos!

From the opening Arena/dream sequence (which descriptive to a fault) to the final "zzziiipppp" in prison, I felt immersed in the characters. They were raw, thick with today's pop identity, but also had a comical reality about them. They were flawed...every one of them. And that's what kept me in the script. Every move they made, I just had to see how it would screw up their lives.

The dialogue was quick and fast-paced, which I believe was a must for this type of story.

Very few scripts give me a visual image of the action, and I had that through the entire read on Metalhead.

I usually don't find "silly" films enjoyable, but I found myself laughing more times than not on this one! In fact, my wife asked me to read it in another room so that she could watch tv.

The dialogue was snappy and fun, and it was a quick read. The absurdity of Franklin as an action hero is beautiful, and the one thing that makes this work!

The only thing I'm not comfortable with...and I'm no prude...is a line towards the beginning: "A bullet a day keeps the mother f****** away." It almost takes us out of the fun/parody feel, and feels unnatural. I might use something else, such as "A bullet a day keeps you British bastards away", or the like. It would give it more of an 80's action quote feel.

I liked it alot...and congratulations!
