About

I am a writer from Utah. I have a degree in film from BYU, with an emphasis in writing and producing. Amsalai is the first full length script I have written that I felt was worth being produced. I have also published a science fiction novel, Pangea Liberation and a few short stories.

I loved the premise, I could easily see this becoming a great film, but the script just didn't excite me as much as your logline. I think it is close though.
Some of the pranks pulled on each group seemed a little over the top, or at least like the other should have seen it coming.
The characters also seemed more childish than grouchy old men.
I look forward to any future drafts and will love to see it made someday.

First of all the premise really works for me, drunk who cleans up his life and uses his knowledge to help others learn to read. The world of course needs people to do more good and this film has a lot of potential to resonate with a mass audience.
First thoughts though. For the audience you will really want to target with this type of film you need to reduce the amount of swearing, by a whole lot. Take out all of the f-words and cut the other swearing down to at least a PG-13 rating.
The script is also a bit long for a feel good movie. Make sure that every scene leads into the next scene and is essential to the story. You should easily be able to cut ten pages, maybe even more.
Just a few thoughts, overall I thoroughly enjoyed it and hope to see it someday.

An exciting and enjoyable premise but the script is a bit long and predictable.

Review Notes as I read through it:

Very exciting to tie in Nazis to creating modern day bombs.
Very improbable for terrorists to so easily get away from attacking a military base. A wall of water from Hoover Dam would be very unlikely to assist in helping hovercrafts be washed clear into the Gulf of Mexico, that is several hundred miles. Terrorists getting their hands on hovercrafts are also very improbable.
So far the plot is very predictable.
The USA does not have Ministers of Departments, they have Secretaries. (referring to the minister of foreign affairs that you use)
Also a thought, with strained tensions and sanctions against Iran do we really want to make a movie painting them out to be such bad guys.
It may just be the uploaded script but a number of words have spaces in the middle of them: examp le.
Your portrayal of Islam seems very stereotypical.
The president's speech declaring war on Iran needs to be more emotional and moving.
The use of vulgarity gets a bit excessive.

I thoroughly enjoyed the premise of Forgotten Planet. At first the characters were very difficult to follow, but over time this problem worked itself out. On screen this would most likely not be an issue.
There were a few format issues in the script as well.
With a bit of polish I think this would make an excellent and visually exciting film.
